Rectenwald Brothers completed a two-phase facility modernization project for the United States Postal Service in Indianapolis, Indiana. The project was designed to prepare the facility for the installation of new Small Delivery Unit Sorters (SDUS) and Single Induction Process Sorters (SIPS), while also relocating existing SIPS equipment to support operational efficiencies and future growth.
The scope included selective demolition, electrical upgrades, infrastructure modifications, and extensive site preparation required to accommodate the new automated sorting equipment. Careful planning and coordination were essential to ensure all work aligned with USPS operational requirements and equipment installation schedules.
A key challenge of the project was executing construction within a fully operational postal processing facility. Our team worked closely with USPS personnel and facility operations to phase the work, maintain safety, and minimize disruptions to daily mail processing activities. Through proactive communication and detailed coordination, Rectenwald Brothers successfully delivered the project while allowing critical facility operations to continue uninterrupted.
